If you’ve found this page, it means that you’re likely looking for a simple, local way to get into freediving. It’s a tough sport to enter at times, especially in Canada where the cold temperatures and lack of visibility and diverse sea life don’t make the idea of “holding your breath underwater” very appealing.
All of that changes now. While I’m in Canada this season, I’m hosting two, beginner level freediving courses, that are appropriate for people with lots of swimming experience, or with very little. People that have tried diving before, and complete newcomers to the concept. The course is designed to teach you all of the skills and safety measures to ensure that you and your diving buddies can have fun, safe experiences in the water together.
Our Molchanovs Wave 1 course dates this season are:
September 12 & 13th
September 19 & 20th
Both two-day courses include theory lectures, dry skills training, 3 open water sessions, and a seperate pool session that will be held during our club nights in September or October, and can be scheduled based on your availability.
The cost of the course is $550 all-in, and includes gear rentals. Our wetsuits are 5mm thick, two-piece, open-cell freediving wetsuits in a variety of sizes from TruDive, featuring Yamamoto 45 neoprene, one of the leading materials for wetsuits in the industry. In addition, we have Molchanovs fins, masks & snorkels and neoprene socks and gloves to stay as warm as possible in the water.
The open water sessions will be held at Morrison’s Quarry, just south of Wakefield, QC and about 30 minutes of driving from downtown Ottawa.

– full payment is required in advance to reserve your spot, due to the limited number of spots (4 students max) and the limited number of weekends available before Winter.
– if you wish to cancel more than 30 days before the course, a full refund can be provided (minus the $50 online registration fee)
– if you wish to cancel within 30 days of the course, no refund can be given due to the limited spots.
– if there is a medical emergency, we can work out a fair deal between us.
