Getting ready for the biggest change you’ve ever experienced is very hard. I thought that going to university, or moving cities for work would be tough, but this has been a few of the most challenging weeks of my life, and I am so lucky that everything has worked out as well as it has.
I’ve spent an entire afternoon searching for a backpack, gone back to multiple stores to return stuff that no longer fits my plan, organized a going away party, moved everything out of my apartment and into my mom’s basement hundreds of km’s away, received a dozen vaccinations, caught several concerts, got a root canal, and linked up with many wonderful friends. And I did it all in cold November, amidst quitting my job and dealing with all the stress that gave me. It’s been a week since my last day and I still impulsively look for the Outlook app on my phone.
My whole body feels worn down, to the point of cancelling on friends last night so I could rest (and I then got very distracted by rebuilding this website). Maybe it’s because I’ve spent a month trying to see everyone, leading to a lot of late nights with drinks…
And despite all the talk, I haven’t even left yet! I’m still just in my hometown, but so wholeheartedly supported by my parents, and all the friends that I’ve gone to see. It’s great to have delicious meals and a pat on the back while making this change.
Only two days to go before I leave with my 40L backpack and all my possessions. Bug me for a breakdown of everything I’m taking if I don’t do so soon. It’s going to be raining in Fiji all week and I’ll need something to work on 🙂
